about

The second cassette 007 opened with an experimental piece, Autumn Solace, which is reminiscent of the work of John Cage, with short wave radio manipulation by myself and some fragmented Tuba phrases from Melvyn Poore. The original cassette was called ‘Question of Solace’ which given the catalogue number was a nod in the direction of James Bond and Ian Fleming’s short story ‘Quantum of Solace’. Track 5, as it is now, quite deliberately ends with the announcement ‘..and now we come to a programme of music for alto saxophone and piano’, which is exactly what follows with myself on alto and Anthony on piano.
